Nordic Spirit
Brand Story
Nordic Spirit is an international snuss brand, Its identity focuses on its Scandinavian origins, minimalist design and living free.
The Challenge
Path was approached to design a POS unit for several UK airports. The success criteria required us to balance communicating their on-the-go offering, educating consumers on how to use the product and communicating their brand values of freedom and adventure.
My Responsibilities
Concept Ideation
I had the privilege of being involved with this project from start to finish. We began the ideation stage by creating mood boards and exploring themes. Our inspiration stemmed from Nordic architecture, minimalist furniture, and outdoor brands.
During this phase, we had CMF at the forefront of our minds balancing sustainability, cost, and aesthetics.
Three Distinct Routes
Each concept we presented highlighted different aspects of the brand. In Concept One, we framed the Nordic outdoor lifestyle through traditional Swedish house design and minimalist materials.
Concept Two presented Nordic Spirit through international cargo, showcasing the product's versatility and freedom for use anytime, anywhere.
Concept Three drew inspiration from the harmonious and balanced Nordic lifestyle, incorporating cues from minimalist Nordic design to create a warmly welcoming display for busy travellers.
Using AR Prototypes
To better understand scale and proportions, we decided to create a series of AR models. This approach allowed us to quickly visualize our designs in the real world at a low cost. The AR models also assisted the graphics team in evaluating text readability and information hierarchy.
The Final Design
Route Three was chosen as the best option to represent the brand's values, stand out in a busy market, and communicate the brand’s benefits. The display draws inspiration from outdoor gear, utilising fabric straps and creating the illusion that the central unit is suspended within the outer frame. This design creates space for the products to breathe and invites users to explore the brand and its benefits.
CMF was carefully considered to root the design in its Nordic origins and communicate the brand's key message of freshness.
